Real and Emotional hunger

We are living in an age where food is widely available, where our taste buds get assaulted from every direction.
Conscious self-control became of the essence.
We need to listen more carefully to our body to be able to identify its real needs rather than its fabricated emotional craving.
Emotional hunger happens when we consume food in response to feelings rather than physical hunger.
It craves specific food and feels more urgent and it also continues despite satiety.
Whereas a "real hunger" develops gradually and could be satisfied with a variety of foods and it disappears when we are full.
Contact with nature grounds us, it re-balances our bodies and minds.
When we are back from a hike or from a meditation retreat, our body craves only natural food. All of a sudden a carrot or a tomato has more appeal than a plate of exquisite pastry.
