Negative emotions, our only real enemies

When we set our egos and judgments aside, love comes up to the surface. We start breathing slower, we feel lighter, because our energy is not wasted on base feelings like anger, fear, jealousy or envy.
These base, negative emotions are the thieves of happiness. They put a lot of strain on our nervous system and strip us out of our vitality and energy.
These negative emotions create a cascade stress responses that has a destructive effects on our well-being.
When we harbor resentment, jealousy, or anger, our bodies get steeped in a state of heightened alert and vigilance, flooding our systems with stress hormones.
This enduring state of our fight-or-flight response not only exhausts our nervous system but it also undermines our immune functions and disrupts our sleep which in turn negatively impacts our ability to make sound decisions.
Over time, this "toxic" state starts affecting us physically through headaches, digestive issues and chronic fatigue.
These low emotions trap us in downward spirals characterized by negative thinking, brooding and catastrophizing.
They warp our perception of the world by keeping us anchored to past setbacks or future fears.
Forgiveness, faith, or love in its purest form can free up energy that can then be redirected toward growth, and happiness.
